Do not transfer common-name records from a different Anthurium species
“Flamingo flower,” “flamingo lily,” and similar common names are used across horticultural Anthuriums. A particularly important distinction is Anthurium scherzerianum, another cultivated Anthurium often associated with a more coiled or curled spadix. Warm and humid conditions help, but the root zone still needs air
NC State gives a warm indoor range of about 65–80°F and describes the species as preferring high humidity. It also lists USDA 11a–12b as regional outdoor hardiness context. Choose function over a fashionable soil recipe
The medium needs to hold useful moisture while allowing excess water to drain and air to reach roots. A medium that works in a hot bright room may dry too fast somewhere else; a dense moisture-retentive mix may remain wet too long in a cool dim room.

Read symptoms as clues, not instant diagnoses
NC State lists aphids, spider mites, mealybugs, and scales among possible pests. It also connects overwatering with root rot, poor circulation or wet foliage with leaf-spot problems, and insufficient light or nutrition with reduced flowering.
Yellowing leaves do not have one universal cause. Check recent watering, drainage, root condition, light changes, pest signs, and the pattern of damage before changing several variables at once. A leaf scorched after a sudden move into direct sun suggests a different problem from a plant declining while its root zone remains wet for days.

NC State’s exact Anthurium andraeanum profile describes low-severity poison characteristics and identifies calcium oxalate crystals as the toxic principle. Chewing or ingesting plant parts can cause oral pain or irritation, drooling, swelling of the mouth/lips/tongue, difficulty swallowing, decreased appetite, and vomiting.
